Huzzah!
We came in third in the Vertical Response 'New Deal' for Small Business competition. That means we won $2,500. Thank you to everyone who tweeted, Facebook'd, emailed, phone called, and of course VOTED on our behalf. The money is a big deal for us, but your support means much more.
So what are we going to do with the money?
Well, as we mention in the video, we're going to put it toward a new production of Powerhouse, which we premiered at last year's New York International Fringe Festival. We've done more research since then and are in the process of revising the script. We're working toward a full run of the show.
For those of you who are wondering what this contest is: Vertical Response, the company that we use to keep track of our mailing list, sponsored a contest to give away $10,000 (total) to small businesses. They asked us to make a video saying who we are and what we would use the money for. 30 finalists were selected by a panel of judges, and then the three winners were determined by popular vote.
For those of you who are new to our company, having come by way of the contest, take a look around. We've got photos (and some video) from most of our shows.
To learn more about the contest, visit Vertical Response's blog. And we also want to say Congrats! to the other winners, The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen and Weidner's Gardens. If we're gonna be beaten to first by someone, who better than a place that makes some of the best food ever invented?
And for a bit of hilarity, watch the video on YouTube with the "Transcribe Audio" feature turned on. Find out what Google's voice recognition software thinks we're saying.
And last, but not least -- for those of you who are new, please keep in touch. Sign up for our mailing list. We'll let you know when the show gets off the ground, and you can see exactly what your votes helped bring to life.
